Chiropractors analyze the spine and body (chiropractic science) with the intent of harnessing the body’s inborn potential to heal itself (chiropractic philosophy) and apply adjustments in order to return the body to harmony (chiropractic art).

Canada’s chiropractors are musculoskeletal (MSK) experts, providing the assessment, diagnosis, treatment and preventative care of biomechanical disorders originating from the muscular, skeletal and nervous systems.

Chiropractor’s education prepares us to treat people of all age ranges, from infancy, to elderly.

Chiropractors primarily care for the spine as well as every other part of the body including the arms, legs, jaw and head.

Canadian chiropractors adopt evidence-informed practice principles to guide clinical decision making by integrating their clinical expertise, patient’s preferences and values, and the best available scientific evidence.  Scientific literature has shown that chiropractic care is effective in the management of back pain, neck pain and many forms of headaches.

Chiropractors are primary contact health care professionals. Government legislation designates a chiropractor as a Doctor of Chiropractic, which means that a medical doctor referral is not required to consult a chiropractor. As well, chiropractic care is covered by most extensive health care insurances.

Chiropractic Techniques

Core Insight recognizes that the needs and preferences of patients are all unique. For this reason, we utilize a number of methods and practices to ensure that each treatment is tailored to the individual. This approach allows us to provide the best possible result for a variety of health concerns.

Chiropractic Adjustments

Over time physical traumas, chemical toxins and negative mental states can accumulate and overcome the body’s ability to maintain an internal balance (homeostasis). If this balance is disturbed, spinal misalignments (vertebral subluxation) can occur, which can lead to nervous system interference. Through the use of specific spinal adjustments chiropractors are able to bring alignment back to the spine, thereby removing nervous system interference. This removal of the interference, and return to homeostasis, allows the body to function and heal itself.

Chiropractic adjustments may focus on the spine, but they can be delivered to any joint of the body. It is not uncommon for chiropractors to care for problems in the feet, knees, hips, wrists, elbows, shoulders and jaw.

Active Release Technique™ (ART)

ART is a patented soft tissue system that treats problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves. Headaches, back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, shin splints, shoulder pain, sciatica, plantar fasciitis, knee problems and tennis elbow are just a few of the many conditions that can be resolved quickly and permanently with this technique.

Every ART session is actually a combination of examination and treatment. The ART provider uses his or her hands to evaluate the texture, tightness and movement of muscles, fascia, tendons, ligaments and nerves. These treatment protocols – over 500 specific moves – are unique to ART. They allow providers to identify and correct the specific problems that are affecting each individual patient. This method ensures that patients receive a treatment unique to their needs.
