Core Insight is looking to add a new health care practitioner to it’s team. With Michelle Murray leaving our practice, we have a suite in our office that is available for a suitable health care provider/s.

The space that we have available would be ideal for an acupuncturist or naturopath who is looking to work in a busy, interdisciplinary practice.

Acupuncturist Michelle Murray to leave Core Insight

It is with some sadness that we inform you that our acupuncturist, Michelle Murray, will be moving to Ontario in March of 2012. Michelle is a gifted healer who has been a vital part of our team at Core Insight.

We would like to take this opportunity to wish her the best in her new life. Our loss is lessened by the knowledge that wherever she ends up, she will benefit those with whom she comes in contact.

Core Insight to close due to snow

We would like to inform the patients of Core Insight that we will not be opening today due to weather. It is unusual for us to close the clinic at all, but the forecasted blizzard has helped us change our minds. Those of you who have an appointment scheduled on Saturday February 4th, 2012 will be contacted to reschedule.

Most back pain is mechanical

Chiropractors are neuromuscluoskeletal specialists. What that means is that our training makes us the best at assessing mechanical problems in the frame of the body. Research supports the fact that most back and neck pains are mechanical in nature. That means that bones, muscles and nerves that should be aligned, moveable and flexible, for some reason, become misaligned, stuck and tight.

Chiropractors find the source of this mechanical dysfunction and with the use of their hands and safely and comfortably adjust it back into good function. Mechanical pain is best addressed through intelligent hands on care.

Chiropractors are experts at assessing and treating mechanical pain.

Snow Day

It is Thursday November 24th, 2010 and the city of St. John’s has announced that the schools will be closed for the day owing to the season’s first snow storm.

Fussy Baby

Core Insight sees babies, toddlers and children with a host of health problems. A common problem that exists is that of the fussy baby. We have had several new patients lately who were brought in because the parents thought that something just wasn’t right. These children were not unhealthy in the medical sense. For instance, they weren’t failing gain weight and they did not have problems with their strength or reflexes. These children were still troubled. They were very gassy, they cried excessively, in some cases they were not interested in cuddling and in many cases they disliked being in certain positions (i.e. lying down).

In most of these instances, the baby has had a difficult birth, or they may have been stuck in an awkward position in-utero. Often times the head is mis-shapen after birth (i.e. cone head, flat spots, dents). The baby can have excessive muscle tension (especially extensor tone) and they can’t seem to relax. In essence, the head and upper neck are injured from the birth process and the result is a fussy baby.

Did you know that one of our chiropractors can easily assess and treat fussy babies that suffer from these signs and symptoms. Craniosacral therapy, gentle chiropractic adjustments and at times dietary considerations is often all that is necessary to bring great relief to both the fussy baby and their exasperated parents.

We are passionate about treating children because we know how much unnecessary pain and suffering can be avoided in children through carefully applied manual therapy.
